Rates, Fees & Charges

Rates and Fees & charges form an important part of revenue streams for the Shire of Broome and are used to fund council services like maintenance of foreshore and parks, library services, roads, health, sanitation, building control and operation of recreational facilities. Based on the 2017/18 budget as adopted by the council on 29 June 2017, 2017/18 Rates Notices will be issued on 19 July 2017 (with payment due by 23 August 2017).

Anyone owning residential or commercial property in Broome is a ratepayer of the Shire and is required to pay rates. Some government bodies, educational and registered charitable organizations are exempt from paying Council rates.

The Shire of Broome also provides a variety of services to the residents of Broome which are chargeable. The details of services provided and the fees and charges as determined in the annual budget and is available within the tabs below.
