Arts, Culture and Heritage Advisory Committee
The Shire of Broome recognises that Arts and culture contributes to the overall well-being and liveability of a community, particularly in regional areas where resources development and the cost of living are significant issues. Incorporating arts and culture into planning and urban design provides an opportunity to celebrate the town’s rich heritage as well as Broome’s evolving contemporary culture.
In 2012, Council established the Arts, Culture and Heritage Advisory Committee (ACHAC) to;
- Provide advice to Council on matters of Arts, Culture and Heritage. This includes matters relating to the Shinju Matsuri Festival such as the scope of financial and in kind support provided to the festival and participation in the Shinju Matsuri Acquisitive Art Prize.
- Provide advice to Council to guide the implementation of the Shire of Broome Public Art Policy.
The ACHAC meets quarterly and makes recommendations to Council. The current membership of the ACHAC can be found here.
