Kimberley Collection Fine Art Exhibition

The Kimberley Collection Fine Art Exhibition has been showcasing the creative work of professional practicing artists from around the region since 2016 and is back at the Broome Civic Centre from 10-18 August 2018.

Event organiser and artist, Suzy French, said the exhibition was born out of the need for a community gallery space, and that with the support of the Shire of Broome there was now an opportunity for the community to view locally created fine art.

“The artists who have been invited to participate in the 2018 exhibition are emerging and mid-career practicing artists,” Ms French said.

“A broad range of art will be represented at the 2018 exhibition including painting, etching, printing, textiles, photography and three-dimensional works.”

Exhibiting artists in 2018 include:

  • Suzy French
  • Chrissy Carter
  • Bec Morgan
  • Tony Treacy
  • Paul Boon
  • Tina Higgins
  • Steve Cutts
  • Gabby Gugeri
  • Naomi Hatherley
  • Georgia Morgan
  • Nat Reid
  • Betty Rupe
  • Craig Rochford
  • Pascal Billiau
  • Zoe Phreo
  • Gem Taylor

Broome Shire President, Harold Tracey, said the Kimberley Collection Fine Art Exhibition was a great opportunity for the Shire to support local artists and to present their work at a professional venue.

“An important part of Council’s vision for Broome is to preserve and promote our unique culture, and this partnership with our local artists is a great way of contributing to that vision,” Cr Tracey said.

The community is invited to attend the opening night event on Thursday 9 August from 6pm at the Broome Civic Centre featuring music, dance and refreshments.

The exhibition is open to the public from Friday 10 to Saturday 18 August between 9am and 5pm each day at the Broome Civic Centre. Entry is free and artwork will be on sale.
