Proposed Amendment to Trading in Public Places Policy to Introduce Trading Nodes

The Shire is considering making amendments to its Policy 4.2.15 Trading in Public Places to introduce trading nodes.

To provide clarity and direction in relation to the undertaking of public trading in Broome, it is proposed that the Policy be amended to designate Council-endorsed nodes within which pop-up traders and food vans can be established.  The trading nodes that have been identified in the draft amended Policy are:

  • Town Beach Reserve
  • Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre
  • Cable Beach Foreshore and adjacent road reserve
  • Tanami Park and adjacent road reserve
  • Chinatown

The draft amended Policy is available for inspection and public comment at the Council Offices, Weld St Broome and will be open for inspection during normal office hours (8AM to 4PM) from 22 February 2018 up to and including 23 March 2018. A copy of the Policy is also be available on the Shire website at the link below.

Submissions on the proposed amended Policy may be made in writing and lodged to the Chief Executive Officer, PO Box 44 Broome WA 6725 on or before 4pm on 23 March 2018.
