Twenty community groups and events will share more than $74,000 in funding support this year after the latest round of the Shire of Broome Community Sponsorship Program and EDL West Kimberley Community Donations.

Broome Shire President, Ron Johnston, said Broome’s community groups and organisations played an important role in the life of the town, and the Shire was pleased to be able to partner with them and to support their work.

“We appreciate the important contribution of these many groups and organisations and the roles they play in making Broome the vibrant community that it is,” Cr Johnston said.

“The annual Community Sponsorship Program is one of the ways in which the Shire assists community-based groups to achieve their goals by providing funding to develop social, cultural, economic, recreational, environmental and reconciliation projects and initiatives.

“We also thank energy supplier Energy Developments Limited for its commitment to Broome and its financial contribution through the EDL West Kimberley Community Donations.”

The Shire of Broome runs the Community Sponsorship Program and EDL West Kimberley Community Donations Account each year and calls for applications from community groups seeking financial help.

In addition to the annual program, the Shire also makes funding available throughout the year via ad hoc sponsorship, ad hoc venue sponsorship and Broome North Community Building Grants in partnership with LandCorp.

Applications for the 2017/18 Shire of Broome Community Sponsorship Program and EDL West Kimberley Community Donations will open in late 2017, with more information available online at the link below.
