Have your say on Cable Beach plans

Released 13 July 2017

World-famous Cable Beach would be enhanced with a raft of improvements under a bold new Cable Beach Foreshore Masterplan.

The community’s feedback is now being sought on the draft Masterplan, which has been developed building on the concept designs set out in the 2016 Cable Beach Development Strategy.

Broome Shire President, Ron Johnston, says the Masterplan will emphasise Cable Beach’s status as one of the world’s best beaches and make better use of the public space.

The Masterplan provides a vision to transform the public space at Cable Beach into a precinct that reinforces the beach’s reputation as one of the world’s best.

Improvements set out in the Masterplan include reconfiguring the car park to create a new beach park; creation of a new entry plaza and an upgraded entry with public art, entry statement, garden bed and tree planting; regrading of the dunes to increase ocean views from the site; universal access across the foreshore area; and a buried seawall to manage coastal erosion.
