Support for economic, events and tourism initiatives

Released 1 November 2018

Applications are open for funding to help local organisations develop economic, events and tourism projects and initiatives that benefit the Broome community.

The Shire expanded its annual Community Sponsorship Program at the beginning of 2018 to include the new Economic, Events and Tourism Development funding stream, with 11 Broome organisations sharing more than $200,000 in funding in the inaugural round.

Applications for the new funding round open on Thursday 1 November and close at 4pm on Friday 11 January 2019.

Applicants can request up to $70,000 in cash support, and $30,000 of in-kind support, up to 50 per cent of the total project cost.

Broome Shire President, Harold Tracey, said Council was committed to developing Broome’s economy in partnership with the community.

“Broome’s local organisations, events and community groups play a big part in developing our economy and the Shire of Broome is looking to partner with them by making this funding available,” Cr Tracey said.

“We’re pleased to be able to support the organisations that put in the hard work and are helping to build our community and our economy.”

Full details are available online at the link below, and anyone considering applying is encouraged to contact Shire of Broome Events and Economic Development Coordinator, Rhondda Chappell, on (08) 9191 3456 to discuss their project.
