Environmental Health Service
The Shire of Broome employs two full-time Environmental Health Officers (EHO's). The role of the EHO in the community is to monitor and assess all aspects of environmental health including food safety, drinking water, septic tanks, effluent disposal, swimming pool water sampling, pest control, caravan parks, illegal camping, noise and public buildings.
The Shire also employs a full-time Environmental Health Officer designated solely to the Aboriginal Communities within the Shire. The position was funded by the Health Department of WA.
Health Resources
Council's Health Department will:
Provide information on any health legislation concerned with the development of new premises;
Prepare and present educational talks free of charge for schools and other community groups to promote all aspects of community health;
Provide information on the disposal of hazardous wastes and
Provide information on the prevention of infectious diseases.
