The You're Welcome WA Access Initiative - Shire of Broome provides people with disabilities with clear access information about a wide range of facilities in the Broome area including accommodation, restaurants, cinemas, car parks, beaches and shopping areas.

This exciting project is an initiative of the Shire of Broome supported by the Disability Services Commission in partnership with the WA Local Government Association. It will help meet the needs of the 20% of people in WA with a disability, as well as providing the opportunity for business to develop new markets.

About the Project

People with disabilities currently report that they face many barriers accessing community facilities. However, businesses can expand their markets by providing services that are accessible for the 20% of people in Western Australia who have a disability.

The You're Welcome WA Access Initiative provides people with disabilities with clear access information about a wide range of facilities - approximately 80 businesss and service facilities had access information gathered within Broome. The project also aims to provide practical information to assist businesses with making their services accessible to customers of all ages and abilities, locals and visitors alike.

A partnership of the Shire of Broome and Disability Services Commission, this project is also supported by the Shire's Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee.
