History (Council Resolutions Relating to James Price Point)
At the December 2008 Ordinary Council Meeting (click here for link), Council resolved to advise the Premier that it does not support the location of a gas processing hub/precinct along the coastline within the Shire of Broome and for the CEO to write to the Premier requesting certain actions be undertaken.
Following the December Ordinary Council Meeting several events took place between the State Government and Woodside in relation to the proposed James Price Point LNG Hub, including the Goolarabooloo Jabirr Jabirr Native Title Claim Group entering into a Heads of Agreement with the State Government and Woodside.
The outcome of these events meant that the circumstances surrounding Council's December 2008 resolution had significantly changed.
At the November 2009 Ordinary Council Meeting (click here for link), Council resolved to formally acknowledge the State Government actions and for certain controls to be in place by the State Government and Woodside to protect and minimise the Dampier Peninsular and its residents. Council also resolved for the Shire to undertake various strategies to ensure it has the capacity to deal with the additional responsibilities and impacts on the Shire of Broome.
