Councils Corporate Services section provides corporate support to the organisation in the areas of finance, human resource management, front line customer service, records management, and the provision of information technology.

Finance Department

The Finance department is responsible for all the financial functions of Council including strategic financial planning, policy development, budgeting and responsibility accounting in addition to the day to day functions of financial reporting, rates, receivables collection, accounts payable, loans, trusts, assets and maintenance of the property database.

The department aims to provide accurate and timely information to facilitate informed decision making by various users including Councillors and the community.

Human Resources Department

Human Resources plays both a strategic and hands on role in building the capabilities of the staff and the overall capacity of the organisation. The department provides an array of services including job design, workforce planning, payroll and remuneration, performance management and Occupational Health and Safety.

The service coordinates the delivery of proactive training and development to meet the organisation's needs and administers the Staff Reward and Recognition Scheme.

Professional advice is provided to staff and managers on Human Resource principles and practices including industrial and legislative compliance.

Information Technology Department

The Information Technology department is responsible for maintaining, repairing, planning and implementing the Shires' Information Technology and Telecommunications Infrastructure. The department services a number of areas including the Shire of Broome Administration Centre, BRAC, Lotteries House, Shire Parks and Gardens, Shire Depot and the Broome Public Library.

IT takes responsibility for the following services:

• Maintenance of network and desktop infrastructure including servers, switches, routers, computers, printers and associated peripheral equipment
• Website maintenance and development for the Shire of Broome website www.broome.wa.gov.au and the Broome Community Portal www.ebroome.com
• Maintenance and support of Shire's Financial IT System
• Telephony and telecommunications services including internal phone systems and mobile phones
• Technical support services including diagnosis, equipment maintenance and equipment repair.

Equipment Disposal Program

The Shire of Broome is a strong proponent of the reduce-reuse-recycle philosophy. Acting on that philosophy, it will donate surplus computers to organisations that can benefit from the donation. For more information and an application form please download the Equipment Disposal Prospectus below:
