Caravan Parks and Camping
Amendments to Shire policy for camping in areas other than caravan parks & camping grounds
Amendments to the above policy were adopted by Council at the OCM of 18 March 2010. The amendments were considered necessary following confusion and non-compliance with legislation.
The Caravan Parks and Camping Ground Regulations 1997 allow local government, under certain conditions, to approve camping in areas other than licenced caravan parks for up to 3 months only, with the exception of 12 months for the construction of dwelling if it is outside the town site.
In order to approve applications Council has specified conditions that constitute minimum requirements for environmental and public health related to camping in areas other than caravan parks/camping grounds.
Applications that do not comply with the policy will be referred to Council for determination. Applications for approval to camp in areas other than caravan parks and the accompanying policy are available from the Shire of Broome Administration Office
