The Shire of Broome is inviting members of the community to join us on Australia Day for the town's annual celebrations.

To be held at Town Beach on January 26, the event is much loved by residents and is set to be well-attended again in 2021.

Broome’s amazing Lions, Lioness and Rotary Clubs will combine to provide the usual community breakfast, which will be sold for a gold coin donation from 8-10am.

There will also be live music and children’s activities to keep people entertained, while more than 20 people originating from 15 different countries are set to become new Australian citizens.

Another highlight will be the presentation of the Community Citizen of the Year Awards, with Broome’s local heroes recognised for their selfless dedication and service.

Shire of Broome deputy president Desiree Male said Australia Day was a favourite in the Broome calendar and a great occasion for the community to get together for.

“With a lot of our community heading away for Christmas and New Year, the Australia Day celebration is an opportunity for us all to get together for the first time in 2021,” she said

“I’d like to thank our community service clubs, who play a big role in organising the event and proving a celebration for us all.

“Our Citizen of the Year Award winners this year are all very worthy of recognition, with some fantastic nominations this time around.

“I’d invite everyone to come down to Town Beach from 8am to enjoy the day.”
