The Shire is increasing the amount of car parking at Town Beach, with a new project to build on vehicle capacity at the revamped precinct.

The Town Beach Foreshore Redevelopment is a $24 million project to overhaul the scenic area, which has been jointly funded by the Shire of Broome and State Government.

Thanks to a Local Roads and Community Infrastructure grant, a section of the existing caravan park site is set to be used for additional car parking.

This will see a further 44 parking bays and six motorcycle bays being installed, with work set to commence in May.

Work on the Town Beach Jetty is continuing, with the laying of piles at the halfway mark.

Shire of Broome deputy president Desiree Male said Town Beach was an important part of our town.

“The jetty will complete the overhaul of the Town Beach precinct and be another way for residents and visitors to enjoy the amazing views over Roebuck Bay,” she said.

“I look forward to the project’s completion and would like to thank the local contractors who are playing a role in the construction.”
