Review of Local Planning Strategy and Local Planning Scheme No.6
The Shire began a full review of its Local Planning Strategy and Local Planning Scheme No. 6 in June 2020 to ensure they remain relevant and accord with the vision of the Shire’s Strategic Community Plan and the Broome Growth Plan strategic goals. The aim of the review was to inform preparation of a new Strategy and Scheme.
Planning Strategies and Schemes are required to be assessed by the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) to make sure they adhere to the requirements of the State Government’s legislative framework. To achieve this, drafts were prepared and sent to the WAPC earlier this year.
This assessment is complete and the Shire has advertised the draft Local Planning Strategy and draft Local Planning Scheme No. 7 (LSP7) to the community for feedback, which commenced on the 9 December 2021 and concluded Thursday 31 March 2022.
The Shire is now in the process of reviewing the submissions. Once the review is completed, the draft Local Planning Strategy and draft Local Planning Scheme No. 7 will be presented to Council. The Shire will notify all submitters when the draft Strategy and Scheme will be presented to Council.
If you have an interest in this project and want to be notified when the Strategy and Scheme will be presented to Council, please email email@example.com.You are also welcome to call the Shire and speak to a planning officer if you have any questions.
