Rates, Fees and Charges

Rates and Fees & charges form an important part of revenue streams for the Shire of Broome and are used to fund council services like maintenance of foreshores and parks, library services, roads, health, sanitation, building control and operation of recreational facilities.

Anyone owning residential or commercial property in Broome is a ratepayer of the Shire and is required to pay rates. Some government bodies, educational and registered charitable organisations are exempt from paying Council rates.

The Shire of Broome also provides a variety of services to the residents of Broome that are chargeable. The details of services provided and the fees and charges as determined in the annual budget and is available within the tabs below.
