Unsealed Shire Roads

Current vehicle road restrictions:
- Manari Road: OPEN - Manari Road beyond James Price Point still remains closed due to significant washouts and damage to the road. Repairs are due to occur in late July.
- Barred Creek Road: OPEN
- Quondong Point Road: OPEN
- Willie Creek Road: OPEN
- Crab Creek Road: OPEN
- Kavite Road: OPEN
- Fairway Drive (past end of seal): OPEN
Cable Beach Access (North) NOW OPEN
The Cable Beach vehicle access ramp is now open from 6am to 8pm, but will be closed during the day around high tides exceeding nine metres.
When driving on Cable Beach, please drive to the conditions, consider other beach users and ensure you're aware of tide times and heights.
NOTE:
Although the road may be signposted and reported as "OPEN", the road may still become impassable or dangerous due to heavy rain, without notification or warning.
Caution is advised at all times, especially at floodways and washouts.
4WD is recommended on all unsealed roads and drivers should travel in accordance with road conditions at all times.
Port Drive and Guy Street intersection closure
Work on installing a roundabout to make make the intersection at Port Drive and Guy Street safer is scheduled to start on Monday, May 29.
The Shire has engaged Roadline Civil Contractors to carry out the works, which will include the demolition of the existing T-intersection to construct a roundabout.
The project is expected to run until September 29, 2023, during which time the intersection will be closed to traffic, though there may a chance the roundabout may open temprarily between laying the road bed and surfacing if conditions allow.
Road closures
Port Drive between Reid Road and Dakas Street
Guy Street west of Hunter Street.
Traffic will be diverted around surrounding roads, but access to St Mary’s Secondary College and the University of Notre Dame will be maintained.

Road closure signage and radio reports are only updated if conditions to the road change. If the road conditions change during a Saturday, Sunday and Public holiday, the reports on this website will only be updated during office hours, Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm. Permit to Access a Closed Road
Shire of Broome roads are classified under the Main Roads Western Australia (MRWA) Permit Networks system. A Permit is required from MRWA to operate a RAV (Restricted Access Vehicle) on a road in excess of the designated Network Level. Written support from the Shire is a pre-requisite to obtaining a Permit from MRWA, however it remains a decision of MRWA as to whether a permit will be issued.
