The Shire of Broome Community Funding Programs aim to enable the Shire to make a proactive contribution to community and economic development.
Funds are provided to assist local community based organisations and to establish a partnership for the promotion and development of social, cultural, economic, recreational, environmental and reconciliation projects and initiatives.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact the Manager Community & Economic Development, to discuss their project prior to submitting an application on 08 9191 3456.
Community Sponsorship is provided through the following streams:
Grants available up to $1,000
Ad Hoc Sponsorship applications are accepted year round. Please submit your application at least 4 weeks prior to your event or commencement of you project.

Ad Hoc Community Sponsorships
The Ad Hoc Community Sponsorship Program has been developed to provide funds quickly to support smaller projects and initiatives.
Funds assist community based organisations within the Shire of Broome for the development of social, cultural, economic, recreational, environmental, and reconciliation projects and initiatives that benefit the local community.
Venue Hire Sponsorship
Venue hire sponsorship is available for community groups and not-for-profit organisations seeking a fee waiver, to host an event at the following Shire of Broome facilities – Civic Centre, BRAC - complex or a sporting competition, season or game at Male Oval, Haynes Oval, Father McMahon and Joseph “Nipper” Roe fields.
Sponsorship is available for up to $1,000 of the cost of venue hire.
To determine availability of the venue and to secure a booking, applicants are encouraged to contact the Shire of Broome Bookings Officer and Venue Supervisor or the BRAC Bookings and Administration Officer (BRAC Facilities). A quote for the venue hire must also be obtained and submitted with your sponsorship application.
Venue hire sponsorship is subject to venue availability and relevant event permits and approvals.

Economic, Events and Tourism Development Funding
The Economic, Events and Tourism Development Funding (EETDF) Program has been developed to provide funds to assist organisations with the development of economic, events and tourism projects that benefit the Broome District.
Funded projects will contribute to meeting the Shire of Broome’s vision: Broome – a future, for everyone (Strategic Community Plan 2021 – 2031).
Funding will be available for projects occurring from 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2022. Grants of up to $50,000 ex GST will be considered with preference for projects with 50 per cent or more leveraged cash contributions.
The 2021-22 EETDF round opens for applications on 15 March 2021 and closes on 23 April 2021.

The Annual Community Matched Funding Program has been developed to provide funds to assist community-based organisations within the Shire of Broome for the development of social, cultural, economic, recreational, environmental, and reconciliation projects and initiatives that benefit the local community.
The funding window is open from February 5 to April 6, 2021, for projects occurring between June 2021 and June 2022.
Funds distributed through the Annual Community Matched Funding Round are available under two categories.
- Shire of Broome Community Sponsorship Program
- EDL’s West Kimberley Community Fund
