New Projects
Thanks to a fabulous CHART grant, the Broome Public Library has been allocated funding for our "Who Lived Where In Old Broome?" project.
We have used the funds to purchase an overhead scanner to digitise the Shire of Broome's old rate books (dating back to 1930) and a display cabinet to showcase these old volumes, which provide a fantastic insight into Broome's yester-year.
Thank you AMaGA.

Supported by the Australian Government’s Culture, Heritage and Arts Regional Tourism (CHART) program

Ocean Star revisit.png

Ocean Star was a popular children's television series in 2003, that was filmed in Broome.  Many Broome locals (including now famous Mark Coles-Smith) acted in the series, and viewers will enjoy spotting favourite Broome locations.

Trent and Dylan Steadman are city kids who are sent by their mother to live with their father in a small seaside town. They struggle to make friends with the local kids. Trent meets Swampy, an old pearl diver who tells him about a priceless cluster of pearls known as the 'Ocean Star' that he claims were lost when his boat sunk in a cyclone forty years ago. The quest for the treasure sends Trent and the kids on an exciting and dangerous adventure.

We will be showing one or two episodes from the series each weekday, between 4th and 13th July.  Bring the kids and enjoy!
