The Shire of Broome wants to hear your views about waste and recycling services across the Shire.

Waste management within the Shire is undergoing major changes. The Shire’s only landfill is coming to the end of its operational life and a new best practice Regional Resource Recovery Park is under development.

The Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery (WARR) Strategy 2030 was released by the WA government in 2019 to guide the State in becoming a sustainable, low-waste circular economy.

The key focus of the strategy is to generate less waste, recover more value and resources from waste, and protect the environment by managing waste responsibility. Local governments are to align services and activities with this strategy.

To align with the State waste targets and objectives, a Waste Strategy is required to guide the direction and resourcing of waste management in the Shire of Broome through to 2030.

The Shire cannot achieve improved waste management outcomes on its own and needs commitment from the community.

To guide the actions and outcomes of the Broome Waste Strategy, we are undertaking a survey to better understand the community’s knowledge and views on waste and recycling and guide the vision and direction of the Strategy.

The survey can be found by clicking here, takes about 3-5 minutes to complete and any answers you provide are confidential.

Your input is important to shape the Shire's future vision and actions regarding waste - we thank you for taking the time to undertake this survey.
