The Shire of Broome would like to reiterate that anyone interested in attending next week’s Community Safety Forum must register their place beforehand, as there is a 300-person limit.

The meeting is part of the engagement process seeking feedback on the Draft Community Safety Plan 2021 – 2025 and has been organised to address resident concerns around public safety.

State Government agency officials, police representatives and a number of politicians have confirmed their attendance, giving the Broome community an opportunity to hear from decision makers.

At the time of writing, roughly 200 people had registered to attend.

However, with the Shire required to follow COVIDsafe practices and the Broome Civic Centre only allowed to hold 300 people, capacity will be capped once this number is reached.

Shire of Broome President Harold Tracey said people interested in attending needed to register.

“If the 300-person limit is reached, we will not be able to accommodate any additional people in a safe and responsible manner,” he said.

“As such, if those interested do not register their place, there is a risk that the 300-person limit could be reached on the night - meaning those who have not registered will miss out.

“Registering is a quick and easy process and will ensure you can have your voice heard, and hear from important stakeholders, on this important issue.

“Unregistered people who turn up on the night will not be granted access.”

The Community Safety Forum will be held at the Broome Civic Centre on December 7 from 6pm – 9pm.
