Our Multi-cultural Broome
Ukrainian Easter Egg Dyeing Workshop – A Cultural Easter Experience
Join us at Broome Public Library for an Easter special crafting session with Elena Marian- a hands-on workshop exploring the beautiful tradition of Ukrainian Easter egg decorating.
Discover the art of pysanky — the traditional wax-resist method of “writing” intricate designs onto eggs — and learn the meaning behind common Ukrainian symbols and colours. Participants will also experience botanical egg dyeing, using leaves and natural techniques to create delicate patterns inspired by nature.
This cultural Easter experience offers a creative and meaningful way to connect with tradition, symbolism, and seasonal celebration. And a beautiful, waste-friendly alternative to standard chocolate eggs.
Saturday 7th March 9.30am - 11am
Limited Spaces available. Suitable for teenagers and adults.

Broome's Mangoes, Muddies and Memories- Recipes and Recollections Community Project
This is a community cohesion project, and all members of the Broome Community are invited to submit their favourite recipes associated with Broome, along with photos of family and friends enjoying a Broome feed, and anecdotes around the sharing of food.
It might be a favourite mango chutney recipe, or the BEST chilli mud crab recipe, or the funniest fishing trip, or a catch & cook memory.
These will be compiled into a lovely booklet, a true celebration of our diverse Broome community.
If you'd like to participate, you can download the templates, or alternatively, you can use the headings on a digital document, or hand written sheet.
There are two templates - one for your recipe (with space for some brief special comments) and one for recollections (a long form 'memories' submission).
Email it to library@broome.wa.gov.au or drop it in to the library.
Any questions call us at the library 9191 3477. Submissions close 20 March 2026, but we'd appreciate them sooner than later.
