Voices of Broome #3
Meet two awesome Broome residents- Sarah Sear-Jones and Garry Smith.
Sarah Sear-Jones has been described by friends as a ‘chronic community maker’. While her ‘day’ job is pilot, in her spare time she likes to inspire those around her to connect through social initiatives such as Dungeons and Dragons, stargazing and astrophotography.
Sarah was a finalist for the Broome Community Citizen of the Year award in 2022
Alan Atchison recently launched Broome Therapy dogs, a 100% free therapy dog service.
Discover what led Alan to start Broome Therapy dogs, and the benefits of the service for everyone involved - participant, dog and handler.

Meet three awesome Broome residents - Garry Smith, Hong Yu & Sue Fraser
Hong Yu and Sue Fraser have been friends since the early 90's.
Hong has been in Broome since 1986, and was a partner in Son Ming Chinese Restaurant, runs a very popular Mahjong club, and is the custodian of the Yu Family Display in Chinatown.
Sue arrived in Broome in 1991, has been a teacher/trainer, silk painter, ‘multiculturalist’, conservationist & keen gardener.
Garry Smith has been an educator and Principal in the Kimberley for over 30 years, a Director of Mandalah Ltd and advocates for Seniors through the activities of Broome Prime Timers

Whether it’s our love of ‘catch and cook’, dealing with the bounty of our seasonal gardens, enjoying our food festivals, a treat from the community markets, or sharing food with family and friends, food is a community connector.
