Public Space Bookings

Bookings and information on public spaces in Broome can be made on the SpacetoCo website.

Why do I need to make a booking?

Bookings are necessary if you wish to hold a public event or organised sporting, fitness or recreation activity at one of the Shire’s parks or reserves.

Bookings are also required for private social gatherings if you will be arranging a bouncy castle or other such activity which may impact public users of the park or reserve.

This will ensure that the reserve is suitable for your activity and that it is available during the times you wish to hold your event.

Will my booking be exclusive use?

Bookings made through SpacetoCo are not exclusive use. No other bookings will be accepted for the area that you have booked, However the general vicinity may still be used by the public (family picnics, dog walkers etc.). The area that you have booked will not be fenced off to the general public.

An event organiser can request exclusive use of a public space. This will incur a higher fee than what is listed on the SpacetoCo website, and a bond. It is at the discretion of the event organiser to allow or deny access to the event and to fence, rope or section off the required area. Anyone who wishes to have exclusive use of a park or reserve must complete an event application form

Other locations

The Broome Civic Centre and the Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre (BRAC) are equipped to hold both small and large scale events and are available to hire.

Cable Beach Redevelopment Project

The Cable Beach Redevelopment Project is underway and Stage B1 Works will commence in April 2024 and are expected to be completed by early December 2024. These works will mainly take place around the Surf Club and near the sand dunes. Depending on how the construction works progress, some spaces may not be available for public use.

Works in the vicinity may also create some noise/visual impact and beach access will be affected at times. Please keep this in mind when making bookings at Cable Beach and to avoid disappointment it is recommended that you have a Plan B for an alternative location when you make a booking.

The Shire would like to apologise for any inconvenience and you may wish to check out the Cable Beach Redevelopment Website and Cable Beach Major Projects Updates for more information about the redevelopment.
