The Shire of Broome is inviting community feedback on the Draft Place Management Plan 2025–2029, which outlines how we will bring new life, energy, and community activity into three key precincts: Chinatown, Town Beach, and Cable Beach.
The plan focuses on enhancing the places we already know and love—our parks, foreshore areas, public spaces, and town centres—through thoughtful planning, better coordination, and support for local events and community activity.
What is this plan really about?
We're working on how the Shire can:
-
Make our public spaces more welcoming, vibrant, and community-friendly.
-
Support community groups and external organisations to deliver events.
-
Deliver engaging, inclusive Shire-led events in each precinct.
-
Create opportunities for everyone to connect, celebrate, and enjoy Broome together.
Rather than proposing new public spaces or major infrastructure projects, this plan is about breathing new life into existing areas—by encouraging activity, community use, and a sense of shared place.
Why it matters:
-
The aim is to create spaces where people want to gather, connect, and experience local culture and community.
-
We’re keen to hear from residents, businesses, and local organisations on how we can support better use of these precincts.
