Correct disposal of batteries in Broome
Published on 13 December 2021
Disposing of batteries in the proper manner is essential for our community – with the Waste Management Facility on Buckley’s Road having a dedicated section to house unwanted batteries.
The Shire of Broome would urge residents to do the right thing when it comes to car batteries in particular, by bringing them to the Waste Management Facility and separating them from household waste.
Batteries can be dropped at the Waste Management Facility for free.
Over recent weeks, a number of batteries have been disposed in the household waste section – leading to fires at the tip.
Our Rangers have also discovered abandoned car batteries in bushland of late, which is bush pollution and also poses a real risk during bushfire season.
If in doubt, contact the Waste Management Facility on 9191 8777 or click here for more information.
