Beach 2 Bay Virtual Swim 2022

Have you ever wondered how far it would be to swim from Broome’s beautiful Cable Beach, around picturesque Gantheaume Point, finishing at the iconic Town Beach in Roebuck Bay?

Well, the answer is 20km, and that’s the distance of the Beach 2 Bay Virtual Swim coming to Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre (BRAC) on Sunday 3 April 2022.

The event will be held entirely in the BRAC swimming pool and is designed to replicate the distance to swim from Cable Beach to Roebuck Bay.  20km equals 800 laps of the 25m BRAC pool and the event can be completed as an individual, duo, team of four or a novelty team of up to 10 swimmers.

For those new to long distance swimming, this year BRAC will be introducing 10km option.

If you think you might need to get some training in beforehand, BRAC offers an Adult Swim Program on Tuesday evenings from 6pm to 7pm and Thursday mornings from 5.45am to 7am with a coach on hand to offer training and stroke correction. The community and visitors to Broome are  encouraged to participate in the Beach 2 Bay Virtual Swim 2020. The event is a 20km swim in the BRAC pool simulating the distance to swim from Broome’s beautiful Cable Beach, around picturesque Gantheaume Point, finishing at the iconic Town Beach in Roebuck Bay!

Awards will be given to all those that take part in this great event.

Date: Sunday 3 April 2022

Distance: 10km or 20km Swim

· Every entrant must complete an entry form.

· Payment must be received at time of registration.

· Entries Close Saturday 2 March 2022.

· Novelty teams only, can register additional team members on Sunday 3 April.

· The Beach 2 Bay Virtual Swim is a 10km or 20km swim completed in the BRAC Pool.

The Swim can be completed as:

• Individual (Minimum 14 years as of  3 April 2022).
•  Duo.
• Team of four.
• Novelty Team (Maximum 15 members, minimum age 8 years of as of 3 April 2022).

· Adequate preparation for the event is recommended.

· The event may be cancelled to unforeseen circumstances, extreme weather, cyclone or fire.

Event Day Information

• 6.45am pre-event brief. All participants must attend.
• 7.00am event start.
• Presentations will be conducted through out the day as individuals and teams complete the event
• The swim maybe completed as an individual, duo, team of four or a novelty team.
• Each swimmer, whether competing as a solo or in a team, must assign someone as an observer to count laps and time keep (this can be one of the swimmers in a duo, four-person or novelty team).
