McMahon Estate Project

The McMahon Estate Development is a project outlined in the Shire's Corporate Business Plan that enables detailed investigations into feasibility, design, costing and valuation of an in-fill development on Reserve 41551, Reid Road, Cable Beach.

The project has been developed over 10 years with an investigation document completed in 2012. The importance of undertaking a Business Case and preliminary investigations is to allow front-end design and planning services to be undertaken.

The current project is made up of two parts:

  1. Subdivision concept design that has come up with options based on several land-use typologies, as well as the form and layout of the subdivision.
  2. A Business Case: Essentially a proposal document for the audience of Council and future project partners that outlines the project background, subdivision concepts, project benefits and ‘way forward’ for the project development.

The subdivision concept plans are currently out for public information with the Business Case due to be complete and available in May 2021.

It must be recognised that McMahon Estate is in very early phases of planning. This Business Case phase is intended to help the Shire secure a (government) project partner.

The planning process is complex and public engagement will be called for at various stages. In addition, it is common for complex projects to be confronted by unanticipated challenges, which may possibly extend this timeline. Your continued views and contribution will be sought.
