The Shire of Broome is seeking community representatives who are passionate about arts, culture and heritage to help drive forward the development and achievement of the Shire’s Arts, Culture and Heritage Strategy.

The Shire acknowledges that creative industries and our heritage are integral in our vision of Broome - a Future for Everyone.

The newly established Arts, Culture and Heritage Community Reference Group will enable a partnership approach to developing and celebrating our thriving arts sector and support the achievement of a number of objectives within the Shire’s Corporate Business Plan (2021 – 2025).

This group will meet on a regular basis and will be made up of stakeholders and community representatives. The terms of reference for the group were adopted by Council on 28 October 2021.

Shire of Broome president Harold Tracey encouraged interested parties to put their hand up and get involved.

“The WA creative industries contribute an estimated $3.3 billion to the WA economy annually; with our thriving visitor economy and passionate local cultural sector, Broome has the potential to put arts, culture and heritage at the forefront of our growth,” he said.

“Through establishing a Community Reference Group, we are ensuring that the community is taken on the journey with us, informing the development of a relevant, ambitious and celebrated Arts, Culture and Heritage Strategy and partnering with us to ensure the positive impact of this thriving sector reaches everyone in Broome.”
