Join us in Broome to chat about how we’re planning to manage water resources in the Fitzroy-Derby plan area.

On 1 April 2026 we released the Consultation Draft: Fitzroy-Derby water resources management plan: policy and guidance.

The Fitzroy River is one of the most important free-flowing rivers in Australia and holds important ecological, cultural, heritage and social value.

The draft plan sets out how surface water and groundwater will be regulated and managed across the plan area, including the Fitzroy River catchment and the Derby Peninsula.

The consultation draft reflects the high level of public interest in the future of the Fitzroy River, including more than 43,000 submissions to earlier consultation.

Find out more by attending this event in Broome, another community information session, or by emailing us at fitzroyderbywaterplanning@dwer.wa.gov.au.
