The Broome community came together over the weekend to celebrate the official opening of Stage Two of the Chinatown Revitalisation Project and Town Beach Jetty.
The official opening of Stage Two of the Chinatown Revitalisation Project occurred on the evening of Friday, November 5, followed by the Town Beach Jetty opening on the morning of Saturday, November 6.
It was wonderful to see the great turn out for both events and the community get involved.
The community have been very patient with the construction phases of these projects and it is fantastic to see Broome residents enjoy the activation of these spaces.
The Shire of Broome is delighted to see our amazing town thriving across all precincts.
The Shire has worked closely with the State Government to improve our town and now two of our major precincts, Chinatown and Town Beach, are finally finished and they look terrific.
Shire of Broome president Harold Tracey said the weekend showcased what makes Broome so special and the easy enjoyment of all the things that the Broome lifestyle has to offer.
“It was great to welcome the community, stakeholders and distinguished guests to the events over the weekend, to reflect on the scale of work that has been undertaken at our iconic precincts,” he said.
“You have an idea in your mind and see the detailed design plans and think ‘wow this is going to look amazing’ - the Chinatown Revitalisation Project vision has remained consistent the whole way along.
“The final product reflects the competent staff and contractors, and the community’s positive engagement - I would like to thank all those parties that helped bring the projects to fruition.
“The Revitalisation of Chinatown and the new Town Beach Jetty are projects for the Broome community to enjoy for years to come.”
