Broome Civic Centre welcomes Perth Symphony Orchestra to the stage

Perth Symphony Orchestra (PSO) is making its debut to the Broome community this March, 17 at the Broome Civic Centre, with their hit performance, S·T·R·I·N·G·S: A quartet gone Rogue.
This unique performance that has more in common with a Beatles gig than a classical recital shows a string quartet in an entirely new light, as the audience delves behind the scenes into a domain never usually seen: the rehearsal room.
The performance is co-written and directed by Penny Shaw, Fringeworld award-winning artist and PSO’s Creative Director, Bourby Webster, who is known for developing orchestral concerts that challenge the perception of orchestral and classical music, making it accessible and appealing to the widest audience.
The repertoire is an engaging mix of classical, rock, pop, electronic and jazz music ranging from composers such as Beethoven and Mozart through to Nirvana and Britney Spears.
The concert has something for everyone regardless of music taste, with the banter between musicians bringing the music to life in a humorous way.
Shire of Broome president Harold Tracey said it was a privilege that PSO included Broome on their regional tour and providing the Broome community with a fun and fresh musical experience.
“Broome being located in regional North West Australia; it is not often we are lucky enough to have a prestigious musical company come and visit us,” he said.
“This one-hour performance is full of fun, laughter, storytelling and has something for all audiences to enjoy.
“Bring your family and friends along and enjoy an evening of grade A entertainment.”
