The latest statistics from the KidSport program are another indication of just how sporting-mad Broome’s youngsters are.

Funded by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and managed with assistance from the Shire of Broome, KidSport enables children aged 5-18 to participate in sport by offering financial assistance towards club fees.

In the 2020-21 financial year, a total of 156 vouchers of up to $150 each were granted to Broome kids at a value of $18,600.

The vouchers were granted to 91 girls and 65 boys, with netball, AFL and basketball the most popular sports.

For this year only, another $150 is available for eligible children until the end of 2021.
