Plans for Chinatown’s annual Christmas celebrations are well advanced thanks to the generous support of the Chinatown Revitalisation Project, INPEX-operated Ichthys LNG joint venture and Horizon Power.

Celebrations will kick off on Friday 4 December with the Christmas Trails event taking place on Dampier Terrace, Johnny Chi Lane and Carnarvon Street South.

Shire of Broome president Harold Tracey said there would be fun activities and entertainment for the whole family on the day, starting from 4pm.

“This is a great chance to come together as a community, have some fun, support local business and celebrate our strengths in what has been an extraordinary year,” he said.

“Kids can be entertained by Santa and his elves, there’s face painting, craft activities and water play while the adults can enjoy music from local performers, food and drinks and do some Christmas shopping.”

There will also be a free screening of ‘Jingle All the Way’ at Sun Pictures at 7pm. A full event program will be released closer to the date.

A section of Carnarvon Street from The Roey car park to Short Street will be closed from 2pm to 7pm to facilitate set up and the event itself. Parking will be available at Paspaley Plaza (upper and lower decks), Sam Su Lane, the Broome Visitor Centre and Male Oval.

The Shire of Broome is working in collaboration with the Chinatown Broome Collective and with the support of generous volunteers to deliver a fun, community event.
