Future of Broome sport in focus at February conference
Published on 15 February 2022
The Broome community is invited to participate in a free Sport in Focus conference, to take place at The Continental Hotel later this month.
Nine local club volunteers will tell their individual stories of how they’ve succeeded and overcome challenges.
These examples will help guide discussion on three key topics; building a strong club culture, developing our junior sport and understanding social inclusion.
Each session will run for two hours with a focus on creating opportunity for roundtable discussion.
Shire of Broome president Harold Tracey said the conference was an opportunity for participants to help to shape the future of Broome sport.
“Broome has a sports-mad community and we know our sporting club volunteers do a fantastic job keeping our community active,” he said.
“The Shire has invested in our sporting infrastructure in recent years and there are exciting times ahead as we are in the process of implementing a new Sport and Recreation Plan - we want to continue to encourage sport to grow.
“Conference attendees will be able to hear from inspiring local volunteers and brainstorm ideas that will help our sports community continue to operate at a high level of professionalism.
“If you are passionate about sport and want to discuss how we can continue to grow together, this is your opportunity to contribute.”
The Broome Sport in Focus Conference will take place on Saturday, February 26 from 8:00am at The Continental Hotel.
This free event is hosted in conjunction with Inclusion Solutions and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries' Every Club program.
