New Local Planning Framework for Broome
Published on 10 December 2021
The Shire of Broome is looking to the future and has reviewed the Local Planning Strategy and Local Planning Scheme.
Shire of Broome president Harold Tracey said it was an exciting opportunity for the community to get involved in ensuring that planning for the future of the Shire met the community’s expectations.
“The current strategy and scheme have been in place for over five years and a review of these documents ensures they remain relevant and are in sync with our Strategic Community Plan and the Broome Growth Plan,” he said.
“In mid-2020 we asked you to tell us your values and expectations about where you live and the Shire in general.
“Your local knowledge and experience have given us guidance for these important draft documents.”
Feedback from over 200 community members or agency stakeholders has driven the aspirations for the future of the Shire overall and its townsite and settlements in the draft Strategy and Scheme documents.
The draft Local Planning Strategy and draft Local Planning Scheme No. 7 now present a consolidated view of community and stakeholders’ feedback for the future.
The draft documents are now available for feedback - you can provide feedback in person at the Shire’s administration building on the corners of Weld and Haas Streets or by clicking here.
You can also view information relating to the plans up until March 31, 2022 at the Shire of Broome offices and the Broome Public Library.
