Roadworks to improve safety and traffic flow and repair aging infrastructure are underway on a section of Old Broome Road until late July. From Saturday 20 June until Wednesday 1 July, Old Broome Road is temporarily open to southbound traffic and pedestrians.

Construction on a new roundabout on Frederick Street is scheduled to begin on 28 January.
This will create an additional access point to Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre (BRAC).
Estimated project timeframes are:
29 January – Work begins on the BRAC exit road. The public will no longer be able to exit BRAC via Frederick Street. No disruptions to Frederick Street traffic at this stage
March – Construction starts on a section of Frederick Street. This section of road moves to a sidetrack, and speeds decrease to 40km per hour
Early to mid-June – Project complete. Exit and entrance into BRAC via Frederick Street open to vehicles and pedestrians
