Last week, Shire of Broome councillors and executive staff wrapped up a two-day visit to the Dampier Peninsula, meeting with community leaders, tourism operators and residents in Ardyaloon, Middle Lagoon and Lombadina to hear their priorities and feedback firsthand.

Led by Shire President Chris Mitchell and CEO Sam Mastrolembo, the group travelled to the northern communities to discuss a range of local issues, including tourism infrastructure, land use, road access, waste management and community safety.

At Ardyaloon, Middle Lagoon and Lombadina, discussions centred around opportunities for tourism, infrastructure and community development.

The Shire welcomed feedback and will continue working collaboratively with relevant stakeholders to support positive outcomes across the region.

Shire President Chris Mitchell said the face-to-face meetings were invaluable.

“This trip was about listening, learning and continuing to build strong relationships with our Peninsula communities,” he said.

“These conversations help guide our priorities and ensure local voices are heard at every level of government.”

The Shire is now following up on several action items and connecting communities with funding contacts and government departments.
