Property inspections for the 2020 Bush Fire Mitigation Program have commenced.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Fire Control Officers (FCOs) have had to be innovative in the approach of completing inspections this year.
On Monday, May 18, FCOs undertook aerial inspections of rural properties located in the Coconut Wells, 12 Mile, 4 Mile and Lullfitz Drive areas.
Compliance was found to be outstanding, resulting in 10 per cent of properties requiring a further on-ground inspection. Property owners will be contacted by an FCO in coming weeks to arrange a suitable time for the on-ground inspection to take place.
Urban properties were scheduled to undergo an aerial inspection on June 5 to complete the inspection program. FCOs will contact any property owners not compliant with the Notice.
All property owners are required to maintain compliance of the firebreak and fuel hazard reduction notice until December 31, 2020.
