The Shire of Broome's Ordinary Meeting of Council for June 2021 will take place at the Administration Building at 5pm on Thursday, June 24, with a number of items open for debate.

A community petition has been received in relation to protecting nesting turtles and hatchlings on Cable Beach, with Councillors recommended to receive the petition and explore the topic further through collaboration with the Yawuru Parks Council.

With the Cable Beach Foreshore Redevelopment a future priority project for the Shire, Councillors will be asked to vote on potential coastal protection options and have received geotechnical investigations to help guide their decision.

A development application to construct a new service station, lunch bar and 12 corresponding signs has been received from DevelopmentWA, with Councillors set to vote on the proposal.

A notice of intent to prepare a new Local Planning Scheme will be presented as the Shire proceeds with its current planning review process.

The draft 2021-22 Budget will be presented to Councillors, which, if endorsed, will be the financial roadmap for where the Shire's funds are spent over the next 12 months.

An acquittal report from West Kimberley Alliance has been presented to Councillors for consideration, while the monthly statement of financial activity for May 2021 has been compiled.

A notice of motion has been received to consider potential funding for the 2021 Kullarri NAIDOC Festival, while a confidential item in relation to a Charter Property Group lease at Town Beach Reserve will be considered.
