The Shire of Broome’s May 2022 Ordinary Meeting of Council will take place this Thursday evening, with a number of interesting agenda items open for discussion.

The meeting will take place at 5pm at the Council chambers at the Shire administration building based at 27 Weld Street, with members of the public encouraged to attend.

The Shire’s 2021-22 Annual Community Matched Funding program is the first item up for discussion, with proposed recipients potentially set to be endorsed.

After 12 months of community consultation and extensive input, the Council will be asked to adopt a new Local Planning Strategy and Local Planning Scheme No 7.

The Shire has received a development application for additional seated dining floor area within the road reserve adjoining Lot 301, No. 2 Challenor Drive, Cable Beach, which will be considered by Council.

After an Expression of Interest process, Shire officers are proposing to enter into a storage unit agreement with 15 not-for-profit community organsiations at BRAC, with the possible recipients to be considered by Council.

Council is being requested to consider lease options for Tenancy 3 in the Broome Visitor Centre building located at 1 Hamersley Street, with the potential for a new shared space.

The Shire has received an application from Little Wild Flower Pop Up Picnics to trade in new public places, which will be considered by Council.

A new Corporate Communication and Engagement Strategy, incorporating community feedback and input, is being presented for potential endorsement.

Finally, a report will be presented that recommends Council adopts a new Execution of Documents Policy.
