GANTHEAUME POINT DEMOLITION WORKS

On display until 29 October 2026, 12:00 AM

To ensure visitor safety, demolition works will be undertaken at Gantheaume Point between 26 October and 27 October (subject to weather and site conditions).

The existing shade structure is creating an unacceptable public safety risk in its current condition. It's being removed ahead of a future Yawuru Park Council development of the area.

What infrastructure will remain available?

While the shade structure will be removed, visitors will continue to have access to:

  • The paved area
  •  Existing seating
  •  Drinking water fountain
  • Ablution Block
  •  Walkway

For the safety of the public and contractors:

  • The demolition area will be securely fenced.
  • A portion of the parking area will be temporarily closed.
  • Visitors are asked to observe all signage and temporary traffic management measures in place.

Looking Ahead:

These works support the Yawuru Park Council and DBCA plans at Minyirr Point.

The project aims to enhance the visitor experience while protecting the area's important environmental, cultural and heritage values.

Future improvements are proposed to include:

  • Upgraded car parking
  • Public toilets
  • Shade structure
  • Viewing platform

We thank the community and visitors for their understanding and cooperation while these essential safety works are completed.
