NOTICE OF INTENTION – PROPOSAL TO DISPOSE OF PROPERTY

The Shire of Broome gives Local Public Notice, pursuant to Section 3.58 (3) of the Local Government Act 1995 of its intention to dispose of property:

Disposition Type: Lease

Landlord: Shire of Broome

Lessee: Azul Ventures Pty Ltd

Premise: Old Broome Lock Up

Location: 22 Carnarvon St, Broome.

Rental Valuation: $17,165 per annum excluding GST and outgoings

Consideration: $15,600 per annum excluding GST and outgoings

Term: Five (5) years.

Background information: Azul Ventures is the owner and operator of an established local food business currently trading from premises on Frederick Street, Broome. Azul Ventures is seeking to expand their business operations by leasing the Old Broome Lockup.

The proposed use of the premises includes operating a food van from the site and utilising the former gaol cells and surrounding areas to create a distinctive food and visitor experience that reflects the unique character and heritage of the Old Broome Lockup. The proposal would introduce a new commercial use to the site, support a local business and encourage increased activation of this historically significant Shire-owned property.

Written submissions on the proposed disposition may be lodged until 4.00pm on Wednesday, 16 September 2026.
