The Shire of Broome’s All Abilities Sports Day returned to the Broome Recreation & Aquatic Centre (BRAC) for its second year, with more than 150 students, teachers and facilitators taking part in an afternoon celebrating inclusive sport, participation and community connection.

Students from St Mary’s College Primary and Secondary, Broome Senior High School, Broome Primary, Sacred Heart School Beagle Bay, Cable Beach Primary, Roebuck Primary, One Arm Point Remote Community School, and Broome North Primary joined the event, coming together for a fun-filled afternoon celebrating inclusion, teamwork, and the joy of being active.

Following the strong success of its inaugural event in 2025, the 2026 All Abilities Sports Day once again brought students and community members from across the region together to get active and try a range of sports in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Held on the BRAC outdoor courts, participants had the opportunity to take part in basketball, football, netball, soccer and tennis, with state sporting associations leading activities focused on building confidence, developing skills and encouraging teamwork.

The event was designed to ensure everyone could participate — whether trying a sport for the first time, strengthening coordination and confidence, or simply enjoying the social and physical benefits of being active.

Community members living with disability were also invited to attend, providing an opportunity to connect with local sporting clubs and service providers who support inclusive participation in sport across the region.

The 2026 All Abilities Sports Day was proudly delivered in collaboration with Football Futures and Inclusion Solutions, with WA All Abilities Football, Basketball WA, Netball WA and Tennis West facilitating activities throughout the afternoon.

Local service providers including KAMS, Garnduwa, Helping Minds and Kimberley Therapy Services were also on site supporting participants and helping keep everyone refreshed with fruit, water and icy poles.

The strong turnout and enthusiastic participation reinforced the success of the event’s return in 2026 and highlighted the growing interest in inclusive sport opportunities in Broome, creating spaces where everyone can get active, build confidence and be part of the community.
