Hosted Short Term Rental Accommodation (Bed and Breakfast)

A Hosted Short Term Rental Accommodation (Hosted STRA), commonly known as a ‘Bed and Breakfast’ or a ‘guest house,’ is where the landowner lives on site offering a room/s to guests, for short-stay accommodation purposes.

If you would like to use your property as a Hosted STRA, Development Approval is required. Under the building code (BCA) a guest house is a Class 1B building and will need a change of use. You will need to apply for a Building Approval Certificate

Other approvals will also be required dependant on dwelling design and type of breakfast provided. In some cases you may need to register as a food premises.
