The Shire of Broome is forming a new Community Safety Working Group (CSWG) – with an invitation for members of public to put their hand up to be included.

The Shire’s Community Safety Plan (2021 – 2025) guides the actions undertaken by the Shire of Broome in partnership with agencies and the community to reduce the risk of crime and anti-social behaviour and improve community perceptions of safety.

As part of this plan, a CSWG comprising a wide range of stakeholders will be established to meet on a regular basis.

The purpose of the group is to:

  • Oversee the implementation of the Shire of Broome Community Safety Plan 2021-2025, endorsed by Council at the March 2021 Council Meeting.
  • Work in a collaborative manner with a common goal of ensuring the delivery of key Community Safety Plan initiatives.
  • Act as champions of the Community Safety Plan within the general community.
  • Receive updates and provide feedback on Shire community safety initiatives; and identify opportunities and trends in the community.

An expression of interest process opened on August 6, with residents interested in being a member of the group asked to fill in this form(DOCX, 61KB) before September 3.

The intention is to endorse the new CSWG members at the September 2021 Council Meeting, with applicants to be notified in due course.
