The Shire of Broome has devised several draft community plans to guide its work for the next four years, and we would love your input and feedback before the documents are formally adopted by Council.

Our Strategic Community Plan is the Shire’s visionary document to drive the organisation’s priorities for the next decade and is driven by community consultation.

Informing documents, such as these community plans now open for comment, help provide information for the strategic actions and play an important role for the Shire in the short-to-medium term.

Our Community Development Framework provides the Shire’s overarching approach to community development and is open for public comment, along with the following draft plans:

  • Community Safety Plan 2021 - 2025
  • Youth Plan 2021 - 2025
  • Town Beach Place Management Plan 2021 – 2025

Shire of Broome president Harold Tracey said community consultation was central to everything the organisation did.

“A lot of hard work from community members has gone into planning these documents, which will help drive positive change in a number of important areas,” he said.

“We need your input to ensure the Shire is channelling its efforts appropriately and is acting on the community’s wishes between now and 2025.

“For instance, in our Community Perceptions Survey, conducted earlier this year, residents told us community safety and the provision of youth services should be some of our priorities – these documents will ensure we have a solid plan in place to address these issues and improve performance in this space.

“We’ve provided an extended comment period and you will see Shire officers out and about seeking your input, so please get involved.”

The closing date for public comment is 5pm on December 31, 2020.
