Rangers message: Driving north of the rocks and camping
Published on 12 June 2020
Shire of Broome rangers would like to remind the community that the speed limit on Cable Beach, north of the rocks, is 15km/h.
We have received a number of reports of people speeding on the beach in recent weeks.
Given the increased number of people using the beach, speeding vehicles pose a real safety risk.
Rangers would also like to stress that camping on Cable Beach anywhere north of the rocks to Coconut Wells is illegal.
There have also been reports of people driving behind and through the sand dunes, which is not permitted.
Rangers will be patrolling these areas regularly in the near future to ensure these rules are abided by.
The majority of people are doing the right thing - thank you. Sticking to these rules will ensure everyone can enjoy our pristine beaches.
