Becoming an Elected Council Member Forum

Are you from a culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) background and passionate about your local community? Have you ever thought about becoming a Shire of Broome Councillor to influence change and ensure that community perspectives are heard?

At this year’s Local Government election on October 23, there will be four Councillor seats and for the first time a Shire President position available for election at the Shire of Broome.

If you have a desire to fill one of these positions but are unsure how to get started the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC) is hosting a free online forum to help you take the next step.

The Becoming an Elected Member of Council forum is aimed at potential candidates from CaLD backgrounds to learn about the role and responsibilities of a local government councillor and how to become a candidate, with advice from a panel of serving councillors also from CaLD backgrounds.

Click here for more information and a link to the forum.

Note, you do not have to register to view the forum online. Simply click on the link to the Live Stream from 6pm on June 7.
